Resource Highlight: Alternative Fuel Station Locator

For prospective alternative fuel vehicle buyers, access to fueling stations is a key factor in the purchasing process. The U.S. Department of Energy's Alternative Fuel Data Center makes AFV ownership more feasible through the Alternative Fueling Station Locator, which is a map highlighting the location of public alternative fuel stations across the country. 

The map shows over 100,000 stations in the United States and Canada across a range of fuel types, such as electric and hydrogen. The tool also has a filtering system to identify stations that best fit specific criteria. For example, users can filter by fuel type, location, and station details to meet their charging needs. 

Another beneficial feature on the map is the fuel corridor tool, which allows users to input start and end stations to determine the distance between the stations. This can help drivers strategize travel plans based on access to stations and avoid running out of fuel.
